With 20+ years of craft brewing success and a loyal customer base, Yards needed a larger facility to expand their popular taproom and increase production. B&F oversaw the conversion of a former clothing warehouse in Northern Liberties into an 80,000-square-foot modern beer production facility that includes a tasting room, restaurant, commercial kitchen, event space, and Yards’ corporate headquarters.
Yards had two primary goals: they wanted to open their new taproom as quickly as possible and minimize disruption to production. We fast-tracked construction to get the taproom open in 7 months, navigating safety and health department issues to obtain the permits required to operate a restaurant surrounded by an active construction site. We also coordinated brewery renovation activities with the purchase and installation of $10 million in high-performance European brewing equipment. Their beautiful new facility is a hit with customers and won the General Building Contractors Association (GBCA) 2018 award for Best Adaptive Reuse Project.
