Hotel AKA Back Bay

Becker & Frondorf served as Project Managers for the redevelopment of Hotel AKA Back Bay, a landmark property located in Boston’s historic Back Bay neighborhood. Formerly a Loews Hotel and originally built in 1926 as the City of Boston Police Headquarters, the building has been elevated into a refined urban retreat, blending architectural heritage with modern elegance.

Redefining Luxury in Boston’s Back Bay

The project involved a renovation of approximately 165 guestrooms and a complete redesign of public spaces. Guests are welcomed into a newly envisioned lobby featuring a sculptural S-shaped Corian check-in desk, a hand-blown Murano glass chandelier, and an inviting lounge and library with white oak herringbone flooring. Guestrooms and suites feature custom furnishings, curated lighting, and finishes that balance comfort, warmth, and sophistication.
