Becker & Frondorf is providing project management services for the ongoing restoration and redevelopment of Cobbs Creek Golf Club, Karakung Golf Club, and the City Line Sports Center. This multi-phase project spans 340 acres and includes a new Driving Range, creek restoration, a new Maintenance Facility, a new Clubhouse and Cart Barn, the Golf Course, and the recently completed TGR Learning Lab.
Cobbs Creek Golf Course is historically significant as one of Philadelphia’s first African-American public golf courses. The project honors this legacy while modernizing facilities to provide accessible recreational spaces, educational programming, and enhanced community engagement.
Becker & Frondorf coordinates designers, contractors, and the Cobbs Creek Restoration & Community Foundation, managing permitting, budgets, schedules, and regular coordination meetings. Our team provides detailed updates, financial analyses, and progress tracking, ensuring informed decisions that balance historic preservation, operational goals, and community priorities.
The project also emphasizes sustainability and long-term functionality, including stormwater management, drainage improvements, and environmentally responsible construction practices. By integrating modern golf course design with ecological and community-focused features, Becker & Frondorf ensures that the revitalized Cobbs Creek complex will remain a vibrant recreational and cultural hub for generations to come.
