City Year
City Year needed a larger office space to accommodate a growing staff that places over 200 AmeriCorps volunteers in schools throughout Philadelphia annually. They did not have the internal capacity to handle the requirements of a move while responding to increased demand for their services following the pandemic, so they called upon B&F for help.
A Design that Facilitates Collaboration
Because volunteers spend a lot of time off-site, City Year wanted their office to encourage communication and collaboration. B&F worked closely with the project team to ensure that design intent and project goals were fully realized by creating adaptable office spaces that support both group dynamics and remote work. Keeping a close eye on rising construction costs, we managed the fit-out process and facilitated communication between City Year and the landlord’s design team.
Direct Purchase Management
In addition to managing construction, we oversaw the entire furniture procurement process and successfully avoided delays caused by supply-chain disruptions. Ultimately, we delivered the new 11,000-square-foot space on time and within budget. The office features open areas for collaboration, numerous panoramic views of the Philadelphia skyline, and frequent pops of the iconic red color that City Year’s brand is known for.
