Becker & Frondorf provided Project Management services for the rebranding and redevelopment of Hotel AKA Alexandria, a luxury property located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, just minutes from Washington, D.C. Formerly a Holiday Inn, the shift to a high-end boutique hotel marked a notable change in brand identity, an uncommon transition in the hospitality sector.
Becker & Frondorf stepped in during construction to help manage the process and work closely with the team to get the hotel open as quickly as possible. With an on-site presence every day, Becker & Frondorf observed construction activity, reported on work in progress, and troubleshot issues in real time, keeping the project on track while upholding the high standards set by ownership and world-renowned architect and designer Piero Lissoni.
The reimagined hotel now includes a bar, restaurant, meeting space, landscaped courtyard, and fitness area, all essential components of the elevated guest experience and luxury brand identity.
Hotel AKA Alexandria has received national and international acclaim, including Interior Design Magazine’s 2023 Best Domestic Hotel Transformation award. It was also longlisted for the 2024 Dezeen Awards in the Hotel and Short-Stay Interior category and earned a LIT Lighting Design Award for Hospitality Lighting, recognizing Studio Atomic’s outstanding work throughout the property.
