Constructing a New Hotel in a Busy City

Hyatt Hotels retained Becker & Frondorf to provide full Project Management services for the construction of the new Hyatt Centric in downtown Philadelphia. The construction phase of the 13-story, 224,000-square-foot building began with the demolition of existing structures on the site in 2017. The project, situated on a very small footprint, features a hotel with 332 guestrooms, a restaurant, bar, fitness center, meeting and event spaces, and a green roof. The building will also house retail tenants on the first floor and two levels of underground parking.

Chicago-based Hyatt will operate the hotel. Hyatt engaged B&F to act as an extension of their development staff. B&F supported their efforts by overseeing over $80M in construction contracts; assisting with the local approval processes and public utilities; serving as a liaison to the project site’s neighbors; and performing regular construction progress walkthroughs. We have also managed the hotel’s FF&E and operational needs. Thanks to B&F’s full-service approach, the project remained on-budget and on-schedule. A short walk from Rittenhouse Square, the hotel serves as a vibrant new addition to Philadelphia.
